The Division Series-Book 1

Prologue

“Jessica,” a low voice hissed echoing off the surrounding black glass room. Jessica’s wide eyes scanned every mirror from ceiling to floor but only her terrified expression looked back at her.
“Who are you?” she demanded moving to the center of the room. “You’re not going to scare me,” she insisted catching her own gaze in her belying reflection.
“Aren’t I?” the voice teased going soft as a woman in a flowing white gown materialized in front of her.
Jessica was convinced it was a hologram, a trick of the haunted attraction her friends convinced her to enter but a scan of the mirrors showed no reflection. “Who are you?” she demanded backing up slightly.
“Are you frightened Jessica?” the woman asked appearing more solid. She had long chestnut colored hair and cold black eyes. “We like your fear.”
“I’m not afraid,” she barked and the woman laughed a menacing noise. She lifted her pale hand obscuring her face. Jessica watched in horror as the stomach churning noise of wet suction echoed around the mirrored room. Jessica tried to overt her eyes but the woman was in every mirror now ripping her own face from the bone.
“Look,” the woman challenged and Jessica lifted her watery gaze to the bloody skull with the cold black eyes. “You’re going to die tonight Jessica,” she vowed charging at her.
Jessica took off in a run going back the way she came. She had to get out of here. She knew they meant to kill her. She knew as clearly as her heart hammered through her chest it was no illusion crafted by the haunted attraction. If she couldn’t get out she’d die.
