The Division Series-Book 2
Prologue
Prologue
My body burned as the scorching fires of hell licked at my flesh. I closed my eyes breathing out trying to find cold in that suffocating heat. I heard a harsh laugh and my eyes flashed open.
“Come now Morgana,” he chastised stepping forward. My body froze looking over his red skin, his jet black eyes, and his long obsidian hair that billowed out around him.
“Abaddon,” I gasped choking as the heat seared my throat.
“That’s right lover,” he purred and I felt the eruption of lust fill my core. “Did you miss me?”
“I sent you to hell you bastard,” I growled and his lips curled wickedly.
“Where do you think we are luscious,” he taunted and my mind flashed to his great deception. He had mimicked the body of my best friend Nick Angel and took full advantage of the love I had for Nick. “Remembering our time together? I’ll never forget those sweet moans you have.”
“Piss off,” I snapped trying to force myself awake but nothing worked.
“You are my host Morgana,” he said prowling towards me drowning me in carnal desires. I fell to my knees crying as the sulfur ground seared my knees. “You are the key to freeing me. You are my demon woman and your lust will give me the power to return.”
“Never,” I screamed.
“This is only the beginning of your Cartagra my succubae,” he promised and I felt the dream shatter away. I sat up fast breathing hard as the first rays of sun hit the horizon. I looked over the sleeping bodies as tears filled my eyes. God damn it what did he do to me? My Cartagra, my purgatory, was this really the first level of my hell? Damn. This is not the way to start a new job.
I got up silently and got dressed sliding the welcome card I’d found on the door of our new house in my back pocket. I couldn’t dwell on it. I had to go. It was the day I was supposed to report to Special Agent Joshua Stone, old family friend and new boss.
I walked back to the bed and my contracts sat up looking at me. “Is it time?”
“Yes,” I breathed feeling them draw back into their individual marks on my body. Nick rolled over blinking his murky blue gaze at me.
“Everything ok?” he queried.
“Yeah I’m heading in,” I said kissing him gently.
“Drive safe, be safe, love you,” he murmured wearily.
“Love you too,” I sighed giving his sleeping form a last look before heading out.
